Delete your account
You can delete your Animalert account yourself, from inside the app, in a few seconds. It is immediate and permanent: once the account is deleted we cannot bring anything back.
From the app
- Open Animalert and go to Settings.
- Tap “Delete my account” (also available under Settings then Account).
- Type the confirmation word you are asked for, then confirm.
If you can no longer sign in
Write to the address below and include the phone number on the account. We first verify that the number is yours before deleting anything: without that check, anyone could request the deletion of someone else’s account. Please allow a few working days.
What is deleted
- Your reports, ongoing and finished, and their photos
- Your pets’ profiles, their emergency card and the people listed on it
- Your saved reports, your places and your contact details
- Your account and the phone number attached to it
If one of your animals is being searched for when you delete, that alert stops immediately and people nearby no longer see it.
A card already added to your phone’s Wallet app stays there: you can remove it yourself from your phone.
What is kept, and why
- For twelve months: a one-way keyed hash of your phone number, together with the number of reports left on the account. It contains neither your number nor your account identifier, it cannot be turned back into a phone number, and its only purpose is to stop the same number creating an account, using up its reports, deleting it and starting again. It is erased automatically after twelve months.
- Data that no longer identifies you: anonymous monthly donation totals, aggregate statistics, and the field history kept by partner organisations for the stray-animal registry.
- Donations go through HelloAsso as an independent data controller. We never send them anything that identifies you, and their own retention obligations apply to their records rather than ours.
